What causes Allergy Symptoms?

When allergens enter or come in contact with your body, they cause your immune system to trigger a hypersensitive reaction. Allergen can include dust, animal hair, ingredients in skincare products, or certain kinds of food.

As the body perceives these allergens as harmful, it produces antibodies such as inflammatory mediator known as histamine, in order to do away with them. When these histamines are released, it triggers an allergic reaction.

Common symptoms of allergic reactions include:

Sneezing, itchy, runny or blocked nose (allergic rhinitis)

Red, itchy, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)

Coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath

Raised, itchy, red rashes (hives)

Swollen lips, tongue, eyes or face
