Profile

Dr Michelle Lim is a board-certified Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who specialises in General Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Minimally Invasive (laparoscopic/ keyhole) Surgery. She graduated from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery before going on to attain her Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, United Kingdom.

Dr Lim has had more than 15 years of experience in her field. Before transitioning to the private sector, she was a consultant at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, Obstetrics and Gynaecology in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore.

Besides looking after all general Obstetric and Gynaecological concerns of her patients, Dr Lim’s surgical expertise is extensive. She has expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery, her skillset includes performing laparoscopic surgeries for the treatment of endometriosis and adenomyosis, as well as for the removal of ovarian cysts (laparoscopic cystectomy), fibroids (laparoscopic myomectomy) and the uterus (laparoscopic hysterectomy).

Dr Lim also held the role of a Level 3 (advanced laparoscopy) Surgical Trainer in KKH and to date has performed more than 800 advanced minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Dr Lim’s professional journey includes a significant role as a Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and ran dedicated services at the Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endometriosis Centre.

She has had extensive experience and exposure, having completed both local and overseas surgical fellowships in the field. She was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Scholarship by the Ministry of Health for “Advancement of Minimally Invasive Surgical Skills in Complex Gynaecological Surgeries and Endometriosis” and completed her surgical fellowship in Taiwan under the esteemed Professor William Lin, Past President of The Asia-Pacific Association for Gynaecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy (APAGE). 

In addition to her clinical role, Dr Lim has been actively engaged in education and surgical training and has been invited as a speaker and surgical trainer in both local and regional conferences. She was also appointed as a core faculty member of the SingHealth Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency programme and lectures at local medical and nursing schools.  

Dr Lim firmly believes in placing her patients’ best interests and concerns at the core of her counselling and management. She is at heart an empathic clinician and has received numerous awards for providing quality healthcare service and championing patient safety.
