Profile

Dr Ng Kheng Hong is a Director and Senior Consultant Surgeon at KH NgColorectal & Minimally Invasive Surgery. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. In 2003, he obtained his Master of Medicine in General Surgery and was posted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, as a specialist registrar in General Surgery in 2004. In 2006, Dr Ng was awarded the SingHealth HMDP award for further training in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Dr Ng has more than 23 years of experience to date. As a colorectal surgeon and general surgeon currently practising at Gleneagles Hospital Singapore, Dr Ng has a keen interest in laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery. He is very passionate about the use of minimally invasive techniques in various surgical procedures, including colorectal cancer, gallbladder stones, appendicitis, abdominal and groin hernia etc.

Other conditions he treats include abdominal pain, adhesions, anal abscesses, anal pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, diverticulitis, anal fistula, gastric pain and ulcers, perianal abscesses, piles (haemorrhoids), rectal bleeding and skin lumps.

Background

Dr Ng is one of the pioneers in the use of single incision laparoscopic surgery in colorectal surgery in Singapore, and has been invited to give lectures on advanced laparoscopic technique both locally and internationally.

He was the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Singapore General Hospital in 2009. Dr Ng is also a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh, UK, 2002), Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh, UK, 2006) and Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore(Surgery). 

Dr Ng has published over 30 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals to date, with four of the more prominent papers being:
